Flippin' Guitars, located in Haymarket, VA, transformed a humble two-car garage into a go-to destination for musicians looking to take their guitar gear from good to great.
Chris Moran originally converted the family garage into a band room for his son, Jason. With a successful career as a mechanical engineer, Chris naturally became the perfect roadie—maintaining and constantly improving the band's gear. Word spread about his technical prowess, and soon local bands and musicians began seeking out his expert services. When Jason left for college in 2013, Chris and his wife Jan officially launched Flippin' Guitars, and business has been booming ever since.
Though Chris doesn't play guitar himself, he brings over 30 years of engineering experience to the craft. Using computer-aided design (CAD) to create precise routing templates, he masterfully refurbishes, restores, upgrades, builds, and rebuilds gear with precision and care. Chris takes pride in collaborating closely with each customer to deliver a personalized experience. He's worked on more than 5,000 guitars and—unlike many other shops—he offers both new and used parts so musicians can build out their own gear. He actively encourages it!
